Srinagar: Quarry holders from summer capital Srinagar Friday decided to hit to roads along with their families against the Geology and Mining Department that has barred quarry labourers to extract stones from the Pantha Chowk and Athwajan quarries.
Himalaya Quarry Association and United Quarry Association that met the owners of Crusher and Macadam Plants here in Srinagar decided to continue their protest till government doesn’t revoke the what they called as ‘illogical’ decision.
Muhammad Maqbool and Mushtaq Ahmed the presidents of both the Quarry Associations told CNS that they along with thousands of work force have been facing tremendous problems due to government ban. “The government decision is a mental torture for us. Without knowing about the consequences the Geology and Mining Department came up with pointless order. We request Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and do justice towards us,” they said. (CNS)
