Jammu – In pursuance to one of the decision of meeting of District Consumer Protection Council held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, a team of officers of Legal Metrology on Wednesday conducted survey of M/S Lilliput World at Residency road, a garment store for children.
It may be worthwhile to mention that a lot of hapless consumers were complaining about use of self made stickers for declaring mandatory declarations like P, PKD, address of Manufacturer/Importer and consumer helpline numbers on the readymade garments, which is violation of rules made under the Weights & Measures Act.
According to Deputy Controller, Manoj Prabhakar, the team found that the said Manufacturer has smudged the price of ready garments by affixing enhanced P upto 100% on the old P and luring the consumers with 50% sales .Infact, the consumers were made to pay the exact old price as was already marked by the company but Consumer was left with the impression that he has been given 50% reduction in price as a sale offer. Inspector Pooja seized the deceptive articles and booked the company under the relevant provisions of the Act and directions were issued not to expose all the children cloths which are under dispute to the consumers for sale.
The department has once again appealed to the consumers not to get deceived by Sale offer as presented by different companies.
