Srinagar: The Enforcement wing of Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) has sealed several unauthorized sheds raised illegally in and around Housing Colony Bemina.
According to SDA officials, these sheds were being used for dumping scrap and rag and had become a nuisance in the area. We were receiving frequent complaints from the locals that these sheds had become safe-havens for anti-social elements including drug addicts, a SDA official said adding the owners have been asked to remove these sheds immediately.
The SDA official said that in another anti-encroachment drive, scores of vendors were evicted from the area surrounding SKIMS Medical College Bemina.
He said the SDA would continue its anti-encroachment drive to prevent the unscrupulous elements from carrying out illegal activities on the SDA land and other properties.
The official said that SDA is planning a major beautification drive on the two sides of the Panthachowk-Parimpora Bypass and the Authority has co-opted the Forest Department for plantation of the land around the Bypass.
