Srinagar- Coronavirus cases continue to show a surge in Jammu and Kashmir as 141 more people tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday in the Union Territory, while one more person succumbed to the deadly infection during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, 118 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 23 from various districts of Jammu division, thus taking the number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic last year in J&K to 340434.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 58 new cases of infection, Kupwara and Ganderbal 10 each, Anantnag 9, Budgam and Bandipora 8 each, Baramulla 7, Pulwama 6 and one new case each in Kulgam and Shopian districts in south Kashmir.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 14 fresh cases of virus, Doda 5 and one new case each in Rajouri, Kathua, Poonch and Ramban. No cases of Covid-19 were registered from four districts of Udhampur, Samba, Kishtwar and Reasi.
“Moreover, 142 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 29 from Jammu Division and 113 from Kashmir,” the official said.
Also, they said that one more person succumbed to coronavirus in the Valley, taking the death toll to 4519 in J&K—2196 in Jammu and 2323 in Kashmir.
They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 50 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said.
