Encounter Starts In Shopian

SRINAGAR: Encounter has started between army and suspected militants in Chillipora Heff in Shopian District of South Kashmir, reports reaching here late on Friday night said.

Joint forces of Army’s 55 RR and SOG had cordoned off few residential houses, this evening. Reports said they were acting on certain information about the presence of suspected militants.

Soon after forces zeroed in, reports suggest there was exchange of gunshots at the spot. It stopped a few minutes later.

The police and army have installed floodlights around the besieged spot for clear visibility. There was no exchange of fire going on when last reports reached the newsroom of Kashmir Observer.
