Srinagar: Hurriyat M Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq was on Friday placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence.
Shahid-ul-Islam, the spokesperson of Hurriyat M said that Mirwaiz was put under house arrest at 12:30 pm and was not allowed to go Jamia Masjid for Friday prayers.
He said Mirwaiz was planning to protest after the Friday prayers against the death sentence to Muzaffar Ahmad Rather by the Bengal court.
