Clashes erupt in Nowhatta after Friday prayers

Srinagar: Clashes erupted betweenyouthand government forces erupted in Nowhatta area of Srinagar  after Friday prayers.

Reports said there was huge deployment of forces outisde Jami Masjid .

They said that soon after the Friday prayers were over, people assembled outside the Masjid and started protesting against the death sentence to Kulgam youth, Muzaffar Ahmad.

Police stopped the protesters triggering clashes.

Police used teargas shells and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.

Several persons, including PTI photojournalist Irfan Ahmad Sheikh and a policeman, were injured in the clashes.

Clashes were going on till this report was filed .
