SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Forests, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad today inspected the Fair Price Depot at Shalteng in Srinagar and Timber Depot of Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Corporation (JKSFC) besides taking stock of supply and distribution of timber among the consumers.
The Minister was informed that 1.5 lakh cft of timber has been dumped in the storage area for further distribution among the consumers.
While raising the issue of pending cases of supply of timber to the 2014 flood victims, the Minister directed State Forest Corporation to ensure clearance of all pending cases in a time-bound manner. He also asked them to ensure timely distribution of timber and firewood among the deserving consumers after proper verification on first cum first serve basis.
During his tour, Mir Zahoor also inspected PC Depot of Forest Department at Qamarwari and took stock of the status of dumping of firewood there. He was informed that 70,000 quintals of firewood have been dumped in the depot for further distribution among the consumers. Besides, 6000 quintals have been kept available for sale for Khatamband purposes to the consumers on auction basis as per the prescribed norms.
Meanwhile, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him of their grievances and problems seeking early redress of the same.
Mir Zahoor assured them that their demands would be looked into for necessary action.
