Srinagar: A day after Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan, expressed unhappiness over the progress of Smart City proposal (SCP), a committee set up by him Saturday made extensive tour of Srinagar city.
The committee headed by Chief Town Planner Iftikhar Ahmad, held threads bare discussions on Saturday morning.
Sources privy to the development said that all members of the committee decided to ensure finalizing SCP within next day days.
“We must have a plan which is practicable, implementable and workable. That plan must benefit people at large. What you have done so far, I am not satisfied,” Divisional Commissioner had told officials during a meeting here to review the status of the SCP for Srinagar city.
The committee later toured the various areas of the Srinagar city, as directed by the higher ups.
Iftikhar told KNS that they would make a draft which is eco-friendly and will boost tourism. “Our focus is on Shaher-e-Khaas and its adjacent areas. In Shaher-e-Khaas, we have religious shrines, cultural heritage, water bodies, handicrafts, artisans,” he said.
He said that these areas would have proper and specific modern car parking, cycle tracks and water transport. He added that the proposal would contain the vision, plan for mobilization of resources and intended outcomes in terms of infrastructure upgradation and smart applications.
He urged people to take part in giving suggestions and feedback on the proposal. (KNS)
