Govt mulling closure of Khyber Company over unsafe milk

Srinagar: A day after Budgam court declared milk product of Khyber Company unsafe, the Government Tuesday said that it is mulling to close or take off the products of Khyber Agro Farms company from the market till the Referral Laboratory Kolkata declares the product (milk) of the company safe for consumption.

“We’re examining the court judgment with regard to M/S Khyber Agro Farms Pvt Ltd and the directions of the court will be implemented in letter and spirit,” Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr M.K.Bhandari. “Within a day or two we will initiate action against the accused company. Either we will close the company or its product will be taken off from the market.”

He added that government is bound to follow the directions of the court.

Pertinently, the court has directed Commissioner Food and Safety to take all steps in ensuring that the Khyber company are closed or taken off from the market unless the Referral Laboratory Kolkatta declares that the product of the tainted company as safe.
