SRINAGAR:- A symposium was organized at SP College, on the eve of World Heritage Week Celebrations in collaboration with INTACH- J&K Chapter. The event was organized with an aim to sensitize students about the rich cultural heritage of the state and make them aware about the importance of preserving the same.
Ms. Maanvi Chawla, an architect at INTACH- J&K Chapter was the resource person on the occasion. She spoke about the plan of buildings in old times and the vandalisation these heritage spots are suffering at our hands. Problems related to preservation of these valuable heritage sites were also discussed and deliberated upon.
Principal of the college, Dr. Yaseen Ahmad Shah appreciated the efforts of INTACH for highlighting and conservation of the state heritage.
On the occasion, it was also decided that the college will constitute a heritage club for creating awareness among the students regarding the rich heritage of the state.
In this connection, a heritage walk will also be organized by the college for the students on 21st November, 2015.
