SKIMS committee to probe incident

‘Unruly’ conduct of a Pediatrician
Srinagar: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences has constituted a committee to probe the allegations leveled by a family against a pediatrician on October 23 evening last month.
Family members from Buchpora area of the city had alleged that a pediatrician on duty in Neonatal Ward (No 7) of the hospital instead of taking care of their 28 month old baby boy Wani Ayan Majid, who had consumed poisonous substance, directed them to visit GB Panth Hospital for the treatment.
“It was only after we protested that the said doctor took care of the baby boy and yet he delayed the stomach wash process by an hour and deliberately entered wrong timing about the process on the admit card,” the father of the baby boy alleged.
The father of the boy had claimed that the Head of the Department had later on apologized to the family for the ‘unruly’ behavior of the said doctor.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Dr Farooq Ahmed Jan said that taking cognizance of the reports appeared in a section of media about the incident, they have constituted a committee to probe the incident. “The committee is headed by a senior doctor. Future course of action will be initiated once we receive the report from the Committee,” he said. CNS
