Hizb claims responsibility
Shopian: Two army personnel were injured, one of them critically after militants fired upon a search party near Trenz area of Imamsahab Shopian in South Kashmir on Wednesday.
Police sources said that after receiving inputs about the presence of a group of militants in Trenz area, a joint party of 44 RR Army, Special Operation Group and CRPF cordoned a part of village, however, soon before the cordon, militants targeted search party resulted in the injuries of two Army personnel.
An army official from 15 Corps said that one of the soldiers received a bullet in his neck and he was immediately shifted to 92 Base Badamibagh Army hospital. Reports said that during the brief exchange of fire, two army personnel were injured. The search operation is going on and all efforts are on to nab the militants, the official said.
Claiming the responsibility of the attack, militant outfit Hizbul Mujahedin said that at least 4 Indian Army personnel were killed in the attack.
The attack was carried out by our militants when Indian army tried to cordon an area in the Shopian. Mujahedin managed to escape from the spot successfully. At least four Indian Army soldiers were killed and more than six were injured, Burhanuddin, the operational spokesperson of Hizb told CNS over phone.
He said that attacks on Indian army and security installations will continue till freedom struggle is not taken to its logical conclusion.
The spokesperson added that during a high level meeting of Hizb Command Council, the Supreme Commander of the outfit, Syed Salahuddin, Deputy Supreme Commander Muhammad Saifullah Khalid paid rich tributes to the two LeT militants killed in Lajoora and a civilian killed in Padgampora Pulwama on Wednesday. The sacrifices of militants and civilians will not go waste, he said. (CNS)
Home Ministry Issues Security Alert
New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a security alert, days ahead of the Indian Independence Day celebrations, to all states where there is a possibility of terror attacks.
According to media reports the Home Ministry has apprehensions that militants may target important installation in states like Delhi, Mumbai, and the border states of Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat.
“The Home Ministry warned that militant groups like SIMI, Indian Mujahideen (IM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Tahrik-e-Furqan (TeF), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Pasban-e-Ahle Hadis (PAH) are planning to target important installations in the country.
According to reports, Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) has intercepted several conversations where handlers from across border were heard giving directions to attack Army and other security forces’ camps and convoys. MHA alert also said that for the first time ISI has given the responsibility to LeT to coordinate with all other militant groups. (CNS)
