Grenade Attack in Khanyar, 5 Hurt

SRINAGAR: Three policemen, a paramilitary CRPF jawan and a civilian were injured in a grenade blast at Khanyar in old city on Wednesday evening.

Official sources said that at around 8:33 PM, militants lobbed a grenade towards a naka party near Khanyar police station resulting in injuries to three policemen, one of them an ASI, a CRPF jawan and a pedestrian.

This is the first grenade attack in the capital city in nearly about ten months. Last time such incident occurred during campaigning of last yearÂ’s assembly election.

Meanwhile, police and CRPF launched searches in the whole area to trace the grenade thrower. So far no one has been arrested when this report was filed late Wednesday night.
