Jammu: Former minister and state Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil Tuesday described the appointment of G A Mir as new PCC Chief as an unfortunate event and a black day for the J&K Congress Party.
After forwarding his protest resignation to Sonia Gandhi, from the post of PCC Vice President, Vakil in a statement said, Installation of a tainted person and junior most, who has never held any post in the partys organizational setup is beyond acceptance and recognition.
Terming the decision, unjustified and undemocratic, he said, The decision stands taken by the party high command unilaterally as no senior leader or legislator was consulted or taken into confidence on the issue.
Despite having the services of experienced, capable, dynamic especially untainted leaders at the disposal of the leadership, this type of revamping by high command which solely glorifies a tainted person possessing questionable and dubious credentials is regrettable and objectionable at first instance, he claimed.
Vakil said party high command at this crucial juncture, when party is facing multiple challenges, has to acknowledge the negative repercussions of this grave decision and proceed for its early reconsideration and revocation otherwise Congress party in the State will remain confined to papers.
If Sonia Gandhi failed to address the issue appropriately at earliest that will be disastrous for the party and I will have no other option but to choose future course of action after holding consultation with my colleagues and supporters, he added.
