SRINAGAR: The minimum temperature Wednesday dropped to 1.4 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, the lowest reading so far this season, while it dropped several notches below the freezing point in Kargil and Leh towns of the Ladakh region.
“The minimum temperature was 1.4 degrees Celsius in Srinagar today (Wednesday),” Sonam Lotus, director of the local Met office said.
“Because of clear night skies, the drop in night temperatures is likely to continue during the next four days,” she added.
Lotus also said the minimum temperature was minus 1.4 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg and minus 3.0 in Pahalgam during the night.
“Jammu city recorded a minimum of 11.3 degrees,” said Lotus.
Early winter cold has set in the Valley this season and the Met office has attributed this to unprecedented rainfall during the month of September this year.
