PULWAMA: Taking a lenient view of youth from Pulwama district detained for first time on charges of stone pelting, police on the instruction of Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone released at least 13 stone-pelters in South Kashmirs Pulwama town, a Police spokesman claimed on Monday.
The development came after a team of experts held counseling session with the detained youth in Pulwama.. Scores of youth have been detained in the district for allegedly pelting stones during last some days.
A police official said that all the released stone-pelters were first-time offenders and they had no record of stone-pelting in the past. We hope that these youth will not indulge in violence in future and concentrate on their carrier and education, he said adding that parents of these youth assured the police these wards will never try to disrupt the peace in the town or elsewhere.
