Coalition falls apart in Ladakh

Congress batting against its own candidate : NC

Kargil: Poll-alliance between National Conference and Congress party for Ladakh division has completely failed as neither leaders of Congress nor the leaders of National Conference from Kargil region have supported the official alliance candidate Tsering Samphel.

National Conference leaders from Kargil alleged that even Congress leaders of Kargil region campaigned against their own candidate, signifying the deep wedge between the party leadership.

“Chief Executive Counselor of Congress party Asghar Karbalai openly campaigned against their own party candidate. We had no other alternative but to field an independent candidate Syed Mohammad Kazim Sabri to made the bid of Congress unsuccessful,” advisor to Chief Minister and NC senior leader Qamar Ali Akhoon said.

He said that no senior leader of National Conference or Congress, the two coalition partners, campaigned for Alliance candidate Tsering Samphel in Ladakh seat. “The internal feud between Congress leaders compelled NC leadership of Kargil to seek support from people for independent candidate,” Akhoon said that Congress rebel Ghulam Raza filed nomination papers after violating all the norms of the party.
