Srinagar: Police Tuesday claimed that it has arrested the militants involved in the killing of Station House Officer Chadoora Shabir Ahmed who was killed by ultras on Dec 2 last year.
Addressing a press conference in Budgam, Superintendent of Police Irshad Ahmed told reporters that soon after the fatal attack on SHO Chadoora, police conducted a thorough investigation to nab the killers.
He said that during investigation it surfaced that a group of Lashkar Toiba militants operating the area were involved in the attack. Efforts were made to arrest the killers and with the help of 35 RR personnel we managed to arrest three militants namely, Ashiq Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Reyaz Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Rasool both from Panzan Budgam and Basharat Mir son of late Ab Khaliq resident of Manipapey and one militant namely Omar aka Zahid was killed in an encounter at Hashoora Chadoora with police and 53 RR.
Ahmed said that the arrested militants during interrogation transpired that four more persons namely
Yousuf Lone son of Sanaullah Lone resident of Gadoora Pulwama is still (absconding),Hamid Malik son of Ali Muhammad Malik resident of Raipora Chadoora,
Manzoor Najar son of Ghulam Qadir from Panzan,
Latif Rather aka Abdu Muslim son of Habibullah resident of Bandipora Chadoora (absconding) were the part of conspiracy. He said Yousuf Lone and Latif Rather aka Abdu Muslim were still absconding and hunt has been launched to track them down.
Ahmed further said that the conspiracy to kill SHO Chadoora was hatched on 3rd week of November 2013 by one Qasim and LeT Divisional commander South Kashmir Basharat Mir aka Ustad Umar.
Latif Rather , Reyaz Dar, and Omar resident of Pakistan and one more person Basharat aka Ustad umar and Ashiq Ahmed identified SHO Shabir Ahmed as target. Qasim and Latif instructed Omar, Reyaz , Basharat and Ashiq to execute the plan, SP said.
He said that acting upon this conspiracy, rehearsal was done twice and, finally on Dec 2, the attack was carried out by Umar of Pakistan , Basharat , Reyaz and Ashiq.
Our investigation also revealed that the arrested militants and OGWs were involved in a variety of conventional criminal cases ranging from extortion to murder cases and trafficking of drugs, he said.
