Protest in Kupwara against SSRB

KUPWARA:  Scores of graduates and post-graduate students Monday staged a massive protest against Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) for including blue-eyed persons in teacher list in lieu of hefty bribe.

According to reports, two years before SSRB had conducted tests for the post of teachers in Frontier District Kupwara. Hundreds of graduates and post-graduate candidates had appeared in these tests.

After a long wait, SSRB had come up with the final list in which scores of candidates were selected as teachers. However, soon after many meritorious candidates while smelling foul, approached Court and ultimately the list was put in abeyance.

On Monday, hundreds of aspirants who were selected as teachers came on roads and staged a protest against the Recruitment Agency.

The protestors alleged that SSRB is responsible for all the mess as the Recruiting Agency adjusted some of the candidates in the list after receiving hefty bribe from them. “SSRB has stabbed in the back of meritorious students. We fail to understand why SSRB indulged in corruption and malpractices while preparing the final list. Our future seems bleak now as the Court has put the ‘Teacher List’ in abeyance now,” one of the aspirants said.

The candidates assembled in DC Office Kupwara and raised anti-SSRB slogans. They demanded that stern action should be taken against SSRB officials responsible for this mess.
