Lodge FIR without any delay: Div Com to IGP
Srinagar: The family of Noor Bagh youth Tuesday alleged that police is refusing to register an FIR against the Chowki Officer Noor Bagh who according to them pushed their son Jan Mohammad Khandey down from the terrace before thrashing him mercilessly. My son is battling for life at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura. We have no source of income and how come we afford his treatment, the father of the youth Abdul Satar told CNS adding that police is pressurizing them not to give much hype to the incident.
The family members of the youth alleged the Chowki Officer Noor Bagh Abdul Rashid pushed their 18 years old son down from terrace near Shaheen Masji, Pamposh Colony Noor Bagh. Jan Mohammad was extracting sand from the river when the Chowki Officer apprehended him, hit him with gun butts and pushed him down from the roof of the house. The height of tyranny is that even after pushing him down, the said police officer continuously beat him till blood started oozing out from his mouth and ears, they said.
The family members alleged that the said officer along with SHO, Safakadal visited SKIMS in plain clothes and enquired about the condition of Jan Mohammad from doctors. When I told the Chowki Officer, why he beat Jan Mohammad, he said you cant fight with Central Government. I was aghast to listen his reply that Kashmiri people can do nothing before the might of Central Government, one of the family members told CNS adding that the said officer even said they visited hospital to see whether we could file a case against CRPF or not.
It is absolutely wrong to blame CRPF. We have witnesses and even the affected Jan Mohammed who is being treated in ward number 23 confessed that he was thrashed and pushed down from terrace by Chowki Officer Noorbagh Abdul Rashid, the family members said.
They said that Jan Mohammad is unable to move as his spinal cord has got damaged. He has become disable and the Chowki Officer is responsible for his misery. We demand stern action to be taken against the said officer. However, police is refusing to entertain FIR in this case. We approached both Noor Bagh police chowki and Safakadal police station but both refused to register our FIR, they said.
When contacted Superintendent of Police City North, Tahir Saleem told CNS that the day stone pelting started in the area, police soon lodged an FIR in this regard. He might have slipped himself and police is not responsible for this act. There is no need to lodge an FIR when FIR already stands lodged about stone pelting incident, he said.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shalinder Kumar in a written communication has asked Inspector General of Police to look into the matter and give suitable directions to the SHO concerned to register FIR without any delay. The family members met Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on Tuesday and sought his help.(CNS)
