SRINAGAR: Branding it as lawlessness and political vengeance, Hurriyat Conference (G) has said the successive detention orders against Masarat Alam were a sheer violation of law.
In a press statement, the Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that continuous detention of said leader signified that the tall claims of India of being a great democracy are nothing but a hoax. He said the detention orders were a a question mark for administration and added that it portrays that Omer Abdullah administration stands as an example of maladministration.
In an appeal to Amnesty International, the Hurriyat faction has called for its intervention in the matter and impressed upon it to take cognizance in said case.
Meanwhile, expressing deep concern and grief over the revelation of unmarked graves in central Kashmir in district Budgam, the spokesman said that international bodies should take serious note of the statement released by non-political organization ,Voice of Victims. Masarat Alam is a well-known leader and the authorities did not even consider the court orders and exhibit their impudence .They are taking the revenge as Masarat Alam has played effective role and had remained most active during peoples uprising in year2010, the spokesman added.
Terming the Public Safety Act as barbaric he said that the act was framed to deal with timber smugglers and latter it was used by Sheikh Mohammad Abdulla, Farooq Abdullah, Gh Mohamad Shah, Farooq Abdullah and Omer Abdullah to curb the political activities of pro-freedom leaders. Its use is unabated with an intention to suppress the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The administration has made it a tool against its opponents including the profreedom leaders and even the innocent students are not spared., he added.
He said Chief Minister Omer Abdullah must explain and justify the imposition of the said punitive law. He should come out with an answer and explain and justify implying the said law against pro-freedom leader Masarat Alam,
Calling the state police as an armed wing of the National conference government, spokesman in his statement said, Police without any delay detains those people who instead of maintaining silence expose their heinous acts and atrocities.
Criticising the authorities, spokesman said though the Amnesty International has termed the said safety Act as a lawless law but the administration is not in a mood to change its stubborn stance and the imposition of said draconian law is still in vogue.
Hurriyat conference while referring to the statement of Voice of Victims with regards to the unmarked graves in central Kashmir has expressed its grief and serious concern and in its appeal to Amnesty International and other international bodies to take cognizances and ascertain the serious matter .While impressing for the inquiry in said matter ,spokesman alleged that the Indian forces are committing the war crimes at large scale and close relatives of those missing during the on-going movement feel panic and worried about their near and dear ones.
