SRINAGAR: Crime Branch has identified a Tehsil Supplies Officer (TSO) and nine store keepers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) for their alleged involvement in newly surfaced CAPD scam.
Pertinently, Crime Branch sleuths Friday raided the CAPD granary located in South Kashmirs Letapora area and found about 10 thousand quintals of rice missing from there.
The CB had registered a case vide FIR number 29/2013 under section 409 of RPC in this regard.
The investigating officer from Crime Branch who is handling the case said that they have called Assistant Director Stores Srinagar for questioning while CB has recovered 1500 out of 10 thousand quintals of missing rice in presence of Tehsildar Pampore so far.
The initial investigation has established the role of a TSO and 9 store keepers in the scam. We have not formally arrested them but they are being called for questioning, CB official said.
He identified some of the accused as Merajudin (TSO), store keepers Niyaz Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed, Reyaz Ahmed and Manzoor Ahmed.
The Investigating Officer further said that the names of some CAPD officials have also surfaced who are allegedly involved in this scam. We have ceased some important records which indicates that missing rice was sold in black to earn hefty amounts, he said adding that investigation is going in the right direction. (CNS)
