SRINAGAR: With growing menace of child beggary in Srinagar city particularly at traffic signals, Child Line Srinagar Monday started a drive against it in the outskirts of the city and cleared the roads from children seeking alms from the passersby.
Reports said that Child Line Srinagar team visited several parts of Srinagar city including Hyderpora and Sanatnagar. The children begging on roads were lodged in vans and were taken to their slums where their parents were informed about the various schemes launched for children by Government of India.
A Child Line spokesperson said that these slum dwellers have come from Rajhstan and are using children to seek alms from people. We took them to their slums where their parents promised that they will not allow their children being used for beggary again. The families promised to send their kids to schools and other institutions.
