TAAK, South Kashmir Rafting Team Emerge Winners
Srinagar – The first Pahalgam White Water Rafting Challenge concluded at Yennar, Pahalgam on Monday.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman said that after the preliminary rounds, final was held in which Travel Agents Association of Kashmir bagged first position in sprint while as second position went to South Kashmir Rafting Team and Lidder Valley Rafting team won the third position.
In Marathon team JK Police achieved first position, Srinagar Rafting Club second and the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir won third position, he said.
The spokesman said that Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib was the chief guest at the event and distributed the prizes among the participants.
Addressing the gathering after the competition, Chib said that the government will develop a stadium at Yennar . The government is committed to provide all facilities for the development of sports in the area, he said.
In a his address, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Shah lauded the role of Tourism department promoting the adventure sports in the state.
Director Tourism ,Talat Parvez said that Tourism department runs some schemes under which incentives upto 7 lakhs were given to the adventure tour operators for raising the equipment.
He informed that his department would soon organize many water sports activities at Sonamarg, Drass and on other rivers and lakes in the state. Observer News Service
