Srinagar- Police on Friday sacked a special police officer (SPO) and filed a case against him after a video showing him abusing Kashmiris went viral on social media.
The SPO posted in the north Kashmir’s Sopore is seen abusing Kashmiris and warning them of consequences if they venture out of their homes. The 29 second video has gone viral on social networking websites evoking sharp reaction from the netizens.
Meanwhile, police have identified the SPO and taken action against him after the preliminary investigations found the allegations true.
A senior police officer told Kashmir Observer that the SPO shot the video at an isolated place and was not part of any announcement making team. The SPO, he said, later shared the video with friends on social media.
“Taking cognizance of the issue, Sopore police has registered an FIR against the erring official under relevant sections of law and the official has been disengaged forthwith from the department,”
