Vows to fight any such design tooth and nail, threatens agitation
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference-led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday threaten to launch agitation against any attempt aimed to divide Jammu and Kashmir.
Any effort to divide Jammu and Kashmir would be unacceptable to Hurriyat and would be resisted tooth and nail, Mirwaiz told KNS. If needs arises, we will launch a full-fledged agitation, he added.
Earlier addressing a gathering at Peer Dastigir Sahib (RA) Sarai Bala here, Mirwaiz said that when Hurriyat talks of Kashmir, it talks of a geographical area which existed on 1947.
He said it means Kashmir valley, Jammu division, Northern Areas of Pakistan, Ladakh, and Azad Kashmir comprise the geographical entity of Jammu Kashmir.
Mirwaiz expressed concern over the recent decision of Omar Abdullah for granting more powers to autonomous ladakh hill council. He said that such sensitive step has every possibility to lead towards disintegration of state which in turn would create unstable political environment in the region as a whole.
He said that the demand raised by communal parties to split Kashmir is based on fanatic political thinking. it can become the major cause of uncertainty and violence.
He said such thinking would only lead to chaos, tension, and discord among the different religious groups inhabiting the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz stressed on Pakistan and India to allow people of all the five regions across the divide to interact so that they can hammer out a solution regarding their political future.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz greeted Mamnoon Hussein for being elected as the President of Pakistan. He said that Kashmiris desire that Pakistan should formulate a comprehensive strategy and policy regarding Kashmir issue. He said Pakistan has always supported Kashmir cause on moral, political and diplomatic fronts for which Kashmiris are thankful to them.
Mirwaiz also demanded the immediate release of political prisoners lodged in Jails on the eve of Eid.
