SRINAGAR: Crime Branch today booked an officer of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Srinagar and three others for preparing “false and fabricated” opinion with respect to a spurious drug supplied to the state health department.
A case has been registered against Abdul Gani Bhat, Assistant Scientific Officer of FSL, Srinagar and three others for preparing a false and fabricated opinion with respect to Maximizine-625 mg, a Crime Branch spokesman said.
Earlier on April 27, the Crime Branch had arrested three persons in connection with purchase and supply of spurious drugs to the state health department by Lifeline Pharmaco Surgicals.
Samples of Maximizine-625 mg drug were sent to Director FSL, Jammu and Kashmir for chemical analysis, which were tested by Bhat.
He furnished a report that Amoxicillin Trihydrate and Potassium Clavulanate were found in them, contrary to the report furnished by Drug Testing Laboratory, Srinagar, the spokesman said.
In order to have a conclusive opinion, another sample of the drug was sent to CFSL, New Delhi, which reported that Amoxicillin Trihydrate was not present in the samples, he said.
It became evident from reports that Bhat had intentionally prepared a “fabricated” opinion, probably in connivance with some other persons with vested interests including some other officers of FSL, Jammu and Kashmir, the spokesman said, adding investigations were on.
