SRINAGAR: Police Saturday arrested son of a Deputy Sarpanch for his involvement in the abduction of a married woman. The abduction in Lamad village of Qazigund resulted in the shock death of womans father.
People came on roads and staged protest against the inaction of police against the son of the Deputy Sarpanch.
Protestors alleged that the Manzoor Ahmed Gorsi abducted the married daughter of one Ghulam Hasan Gorsi and when the father went to Manzoors house, he insulted and beat him.
Protestors said Ghulam Hassan returned home, broke down and collapsed as he could not bear the humiliation.
People came on the roads carrying Gorsis body and demanded stern action against the culprits.
Superintendent of Police Kulgam pacified protestors and assured prompt action against the guilty.
We have registered a case against Manzoor Ahmed under section 366 and 109 of RPC vide FIR number 87/2013 while police is investigating the cause of death of Ghulam Hasan Gorsi, a police official said adding that the family of Manzoor have been called to police station for questioning.
