Shutdown on Monday, march towards Parigam on Tuesday
SRINAGAR: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat (United Consultative Committee) of separatist organistaions spearheading the campaign to seek return of mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru, on Sunday announced a fresh weeklong protest calendar.
The UCC in a statement issued after a meeting in Srinagar today said that complete shutdown would be observed on Monday, March 4, while people would march towards Parigam in Pulwama on Tuesday to express solidarity with the family of Kashmiri student, Mudasir Kamran, who was found hanging in the hostel of a university in Hyderabad.
It said that On Wednesday, the people of Kupwara district would visit the family of JKLF founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat at Trehgam while people of Baramulla and Bandipore would converge on the native areas of Muhammad Afzal Guru at Seer Jageer in Sopore. It urged the Kashmiris living in other countries to stage protest demos outside the Indian embassies and high commissions on Thursday.
UCC called for peaceful protests on Friday after Juma prayers. The UCC statement urged the netizens to upload the photos of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru as their profile pictures on the social networking sites.
Earlier, the UCC in the meeting reiterated the demand for return the mortal remains of the two Kashmiris hanged and secretly buried inside the high security Tihar prison of Delhi.
