SRINAGAR The presence of anti-social elements in large numbers at Sanat Nagar public park has been irking residents who have made a vehement appeal to civil and police administration to initiate strict action against those indulging in immoral activities in and around the park.
A group of people from Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar city said that the public park located on bund side has become the hub of immoral activities. They said that throughout the day, drug addicts, vagabonds and debauch can be seen in the park while boys and girls who bunk their classes also take refuge in this public park.
These drug addicts resort to abuses in front of local residents. Female folk feel uneasiness in their presence. They quarrel in full public glare hurling invectives at each other. Residents said they have already filed a complaint with the Grievance Cell but so far no response has come.
Pertinently, last time a video shot outside the same park had gone viral in which couple of youth could be seen abusing and fighting with one another. That video was widely shared by netizens on social media networking sites who had demanded action against those ruffians.
When contacted, Station House Officer Police Station Saddar said that action will be initiated against those indulging in illegal activities in the park. I request locals to inform police station Saddar whenever they feel such activities are going on inside the park, he said adding that addressing the grievances of general public is first priority of police.
