JAMMU:- The Minister for Haj, Auqaf and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today asked the Auqaf Islamia Jammu to prepare an inventory of its land and property to ensure that it was preserved and put to better use.
The Minister passed the direction at a meeting convened to review the financial and physical achievements of Auqaf Islamia, Jammu here today.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister called upon the concerned to work with missionary zeal to protect the property and use the same to create more assets for improving revenue returns. He said Auqaf is both a department and a religious organization, adding that it has lot of assets which could be utilized for the welfare of community.
Peerzada asked the administrators and tehsil Auqaf officers to identify Auqaf land in their respective areas with business point of view, adding that if put to better use, these would generate employment avenues for the un-employed and improve financial health of the department as well.
Asking tehsil Auqaf officers for preparing register of identified Auqaf land indicating Khasra No. and its notification, Peerzada said that the department was going to launch a website which would have every information regarding Auqaf properties including land indicating Khasra Number, Ziarats, and graveyards. He said directions have also been passed to all the Deputy Commissioners for identification of Auqaf properties in their respective districts, formation of their inventories and entry in the Revenue record accordingly.
Giving a power point presentation on the achievements, Administrator, Auqaf Islamia, Jammu, Mr. Raj Mohammad Malik said that Block-B of Haj House Jammu comprising 43 rooms with restaurant facilities has been completed. He said besides beautification of Ziarats at Manda and Kunjwani, the expansion work on Masjid Sharief, Talab Khatikhan is going on in full swing. He said a shopping complex of 36 shops is coming up at Kunjwani on Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode. He said the department has provided financial assistance amounting to Rs. 17 lakh for upkeep of various Mosques and honourarium to their Imams. The department has also extended financial help to widows, orphans and needy people of the community, he added.
Threadbare discussion was also held on the issues including allotment of Auqaf shops at various places, fencing of graveyards and release of DA in favour of Auqaf employees.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Revenue Mr. B A Runiyal, Executive officer, J&K Haj Committee Mr. Fayaz Ahmad, besides administrators and tehsil Auqaf officers of Jammu Division.
