SRINAGAR: Minister for Technical Education Vikar Rasool inaugurated 100 kWp Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power Plant under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission at Kashmir Government Polytechnic, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar at a cost of Rs. 2.70 crores here today.
Interacting with the faculty and students of the college, the Minister said that the Plant has been provided to power up dedicated load in various blocks in the college campus such as essential lab equipments and computers. He said that the Plant will also provide a greener look to the college and will help in saving the environment by off loading the conventional grid to some extent. He said the Plant will also eliminate the use of fossil fuel by eliminating the use of DG sets during conventional electricity failure. He said the installation of SPV will also help in reducing GHG emissions by 100 tons per year.
Later, an officers meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Technical Education (Independent Charge), Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Rural Development & Panchayats, Social Welfare, Power, Hospitality & Protocol, CAPD and Information, Mr. Vikar Rasool convened to review law and order situation and to take stock of availability of essential commodities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Director Health Services, Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, Chief Engineer PDD, Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and other officers.
The officers apprised the meeting about the steps taken for maintaining law and order and also about the arrangements made for the people of the Valley in respect of availability of essentials.
Later, various deputations called on the Minister and apprised him about various problems confronting them. The Minister gave patient hearing to the demands of the deputationists and assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner.
