SRINAGAR: The family of Muhammad Afzal Guru on Thursday said that mainstream leaders were not welcome in their home to pay condolence, saying they.
Those who swear by the constitution of India are not allowed to visit us in the garb of offering condolence, Gurus cousin, Muhammad Yasin, said.
Some people are creating confusion by issuing statements on behalf of their party in order to malign the sacrifice of Shaheed Afzal, he said.
The family will not allow anyone to play politics over his name, he said.
Where were they when the Punjab and Tamil Nadu assemblies passed resolutions to save death row inmates? he asked.
On his behalf, Afzals lawyer had filed an application to transfer him to the Srinagar central jail from Delhi, but the J and K government refused. How can the same people come and offer condolence? he said.
When reminded of legislator En Abdul Rasheed proposal to move a resolution in the state assembly for the return of Gurus body, his cousin said: When he visited our house, we categorically told him that we were not with his politics.
But as Muslims, we cant tell anyone to get out of our home, he said.
