SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundations Fourth Annual Moral Science Test was held at Kashmir Government Polytechnic College in which over 160 students including 56 female candidates took part.
In addition, over 5 lakh rupees were distributed among students under Higher Education Scholarship Programme (HESP) as part of 2nd instalment of scholarship.
The test is a part of activities under Higher Education Scholarship Programme (HESP) aimed at encouraging poor, needy & deserving meritorious students to excel in academic & co-curricular fields.
Out of 149 male candidates registered under HESP General Category, 103 appeared and 04 candidates out of 12 male HESP Professional candidates appeared in the test. Similarly, 51 out of 68 registered HESP General female candidates and 05 out of 10 female HESP Professional candidates appeared in the test.
On the occasion, cheques amounting to Rs 3000 each were distributed among HESP General Category candidates amounting to Rs 4,62,000 and the students in HESP Professional Category were provided Rs.5000 per candidate amounting to Rs 45,000/- (Rupees Forty Five Thousand), as 2nd instalment of yearly scholarship.
The total number of scholarships for the year 2012 in Kashmir Division is 60 @ Rs. 5000 per annum per candidate which would involve yearly expenditure of 3 lacs.
Since 2002, 460 scholarships have been awarded under HESP by J&K Yateem Foundation incurring an expenditure of Rupees over 63.06 Lacs. Similarly under another category HESP Professional started in 2004, J&K Yateem Foundation has awarded 40 scholarships @ Rs.10, 000 per annum for pursuing professional courses under this programme 16 candidates have completed professional courses with 05 in MBBS one each in BVSC, BSC Nursing and MSC IT , 02 in BCA and 06 in B.Ed. under HESP professional an amount of Rs.8.18 lacs have been spent from 2004 till date.
The result of Moral Science Test will be available at Central Office of J&K Yateem Foundation and all district offices on February 09 . The names of the first three position holders shall be made public on the same date in local dailies and will be awarded on the occasion of 13th Annual Day commemoration of J&K Yateem Foundation in April this year.
