SRINAGAR: Gurupurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh was today celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in the Kashmir valley today.
Due to snowfall the members of the Sikh community celebrated the birthday in their local gurdwaras and other religious places.
However, despite snowfall a large number of Sikh devotees had assembled at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi on the foothill of Kohi-e-Maran in the down town.
Muslims and Kashmiri pandits were seen greeting their Sikh brethren on the occasion. All Party Sikh Co-ordination Committee (APSCC) chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina has greeted people, particularly Sikh community, on the occasion. He said,” Guruji was an apostle of peace, compassion and love, and gave the message of universal brotherhood and a just society.” He wished that the day would be harbinger for peace, progress and prosperity in the State. Gurupurab was also celebrated in Ladakh region despite snowfall and cold.
