SrinagarThe Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar presided by Yash Paul Bourney convicted accused Muhammad Sidiq Raina , the then Senior Assistant, Zonal Education Office Kangan, and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and also with a fine of Rs. 10,000.
The accused has to further undergo six months rigorous imprisonment for offence punishable under Section 161 RPC and in default of payment of fine, the convict shall further undergo simple imprisonment of three months. Both the awarded sentences shall run concurrently.
It is in place to mention here that the accused public servant was caught red handed on August 8, 2009 while demanding and accepting Rs one thousand as illegal gratification from one Mihammad Shafi Rather (Complainant) for preparing his Service Book. (CNS)
