SrinagarA youth was severely injured during clashes that erupted at Nowhatta area of old city after Friday prayers.
A police official said that groups of youth resorted to stone-pelting on forces after Friday prayers. He said police used teargas and pellets against stone-throwers during which one youth namely Mudasir Beigh (age 16-17) of Zoonimar Soura was hit, leaving him wounded.
Sources said the youth was shifted to hospital and he has received injuries in head. “He was hit by both pellets and shell in his head,” the sources added. Reports received here said that the youth is out of danger but is undergoing treatment. Amid a shutdown, clashes after Friday prayers also erupted in Sopore Town against the killing of top militant commander Qayoom Najar in recent gunfight on LOC.
