Srinagar: A leopard was captured before the wild animal could do any damage in south Kashmir district of Shopian today, official sources said.
They said panic gripped village Takh Pahloo when a leopard infiltrated there from nearby forests. People ran for safety, they said, adding that the wild animal entered a residential house.
Later, villagers informed wildlife authorities who successfully captured the big cat.
The man-animal conflict has witnessed in the Kashmir valley during the past few years mainly due to interference of villagers in the forests.
