Srinagar: Normal Life was today affected due to separatist weekly Friday strike in the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar.
Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation for right to self-determination, have called for weekly Friday strike today.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and majority of public transport also remained off the roads in the different parts of the valley including Srinagar.
However, considerable movement of vehicles mainly private transport vehicles could be seen plying on city routes, including civil lines and uptown. Large number of vehicles, mostly buses, remained parked at general bus stand Batmaloo and Pantha chowk.
Business and other activities also remained crippled in the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), including historic Jamia Masjid, though large number of Govt forces remained deployed there.
However, work in offices, banks and other public undertakings was near normal in the city.
Life was also crippled in other districts of the valley where all shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads.
