SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two persons allegedly responsible for burning and ransacking two school buildings in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
A police spokesperson here today said that Government School Habbar Lassipora in Budgam was set ablaze by unknown miscreants on October 27.
“The school suffered damages in this incident,” he said, adding police have registered a case and initiated investigation to nab the culprits.
Meanwhile, a private educational institution, Hanfia Educational Institute, at Shunglipora Habbar in Budgam was ransacked and damaged by some miscreants.
He said a case was registered and investigation was taken up.
“To investigate both the cases, a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted,” he said, adding during the course of investigation, a number of suspects were brought for questioning.
During questioning, he said it came to fore that some miscreants used to create disturbances in the area by hurling stones on the vehicles and damage public property in the area by pelting stones.
He said it also come to the fore that two of these miscreants, Farooq Ahmad Malik and Bilal Ahmad Malik, hatched a conspiracy to set on fire Government School Habbar Lassipora.
“They managed some kerosene oil from their homes and used the same for setting the school on fire,” he said, adding both these miscreants have confessed to their guilt.
“They had also ransacked Hanfia School. Both of them have been arrested and further investigation is going on,” he added.
