SRINAGAR: Another government school was damaged in mysterious fire in the Kashmir valley, where more than 30 educational institutions were gutted since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen(HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag.
A police spokesman said here this evening that fire broke out in Government Middle School Busarbugh in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.
The school building was damaged in the fire incident, he said adding teachers and chowkidar present in the school brought fire under control.
All educational institutions remained closed during the past four months in the valley following massive protests and strike called by separatists.
Police has claimed that more than 40 stone pelters have been identified for allegedly involved in burning schools in the valley. Police said about 30 of them have been arrested while search for others was going on.
However, separatists alleged that police have falsely implicated these youths following pressure from the government and civil society.
Meanwhile, fire broke out in Libra Complex Duderhama in Ganderbal district, resulting in damage to the complex. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders.
The cause of fire in both the incidents was being ascertained.
