Srinagar: Police on Saturday confirmed that they have received a complaint from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) authorities regarding the missing of some articles as the encounter raged in one of its buildings this week in Sempora area of Pampore.
A Jammu-based newspaper had carried a news story, detailing how "police or security forces have allegedly “looted” costly articles from the guesthouse of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) that remained unharmed during 56-hour-long gunfight".
Quoting "informed sources", the newspaper said that the inventory of missing articles makes mention of "14 LCDs, one or two computers and a number of mattresses and blankets that, according to them, have been “stolen and looted” either by the Police or by security forces after the gunfight ended with the death of two holed up militants on Tuesday."
Awantipora police authorities have informed that they have received a complaint in this regard from EDI, said a spokesman.
"The contents of the complaint are being verified to check whether the articles went missing before the encounter, during the encounter or after the encounter. After this a formal FIR is being lodged to investigate the matter," he added.
