Srinagar: In a surprising development Radio Kashmir Srinagar Saturday evening went off the air and consequently several popular current affairs programs like “Shehar Been”, “Gaimi Bayan Hund program” and “Wadi ki Awaz” could not be broadcast.
Reliable sources told KNS that this is for the first time after 1947 that Radio Kashmir Srinagar went off the air a day before the people in Kashmir were readying themselves to gherao the two government run institutions Radio Kashmir and Doordarshan.
When contacted program head Radio Kashmir Srinagar Dr Hamayun Kaisar told KNS “The Narbal transmitter of Radio Kashmir developed a technical snag and current affairs programs including “Shehar Been”, “ Gaimi Bayan Hund program” and “Wadi ki Awaz” could not be broadcast. Efforts are in full swing to make the transmitter functional”.
Interestingly the separatist leadership has asked people to stop the employees of Radio Kashmir, Doordarshan Srinagar and State Information department from marching to their duties. (KNS)
