Srinagar: A joint party of army's elite Rashtria Rifles and police Special Operations Group met a stiff resistance from villagers after they raided the area to nab the suspected militants Sunday.
Police sources said acting on a tip off about the presence of militants in Fategarh village of district Baramulla RR and SOG met with stiff resistance from public resulting in clashes between the ywo sides. Around 30 villagers were injured in the clashes, they said.
According to the residents, personnel from 46-Rashtriya Rifles and SOG descended on Fategarh and asked people that they want to search some houses in Mohalla Kralpora.
“We denied them entry leading to clashes. The forces were carrying two men tied and blindfolded in their vehicles. They would have killed them and passed them as militants,” villagers alleged.
“Almost all residential house have been damaged,” they added
SSP Baramullah, Imtiyaz Ahmad informed that militants escaped during the raid. He however said only two persons were injured in the clashes.
