BSNL overcharges customers for gag period

Kupwara : In the wake of current unrest in Valley, hundreds of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) subscribers are aghast that the company was overcharging them despite suspended service from last few months.
The Government of India owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has issued more than twenty thousand post paid connections to the subscribers in Kashmir following government ordered disruption in services by private cellular companies wherein many of broadband, post-paid and pre-paid subscribers of Kupwara District complained that their service was totally out –of-service from last few months and concerned authorities have failed to restore the service.
Scores of BSNL broadband and post-paid subscribers in Kupwara expressed strong resentment against what they termed “unjust” action by BSNL.
“Each month I receive bills from my BSNL broadband number (01955-252255) amounting to Rs 650, but this month despite the fact that their services and internet remained barred, they have raised bill amounting to Rs 1439.
Terming this unjustified a customer said as for last few months BSNL services remained down and I have already paid the amount of Rs 2682 last month 18-06-2016 and my balance was zero but from that time their service remained down ,” he said.
He said this month they have charged him the installation and security charges again. “I am totally confused, I am going regularly to BSNL office Kupwara but they do nothing,” said Raoof Hussain, a BSNL broadband subscriber.
BSNL General Manager Muhammad Saleem Beigh said they would restore all mobile phones and broadband connections as soon as possible. “I will see what the issue is” he said.
