Srinagar: A strict curfew and communication blockade remained in force Tuesday for the 11th consecutive day without any deal. The death toll of the civilians also continued to mount with one more civilian, a mother of an eight year old, succumbed to her injuries at a Srinagar hospital Tuesday morning taking the toll to 47.
Authorities appear to be in no mood to relax the curfew with apprehensions of stricter enforcement from Wednesday and Thursday when Pakistan is observing nationwide black day to mourn those killed in Kashmir.
Heavy armed police and paramilitary soldiers are deployed across all towns and villages, including Srinagar for maintaining law and order situation.
However despite heavy security presence and tight curfew sporadic protests continued unabated on Tuesday with many resulting in clashes with the armed forces.
Protests were more intense in highway town of Qazigund, considered to be gateway to Kashmir valley after 3 civilians were killed in army firing.
Two civilians died on the spot Monday evening while one succumbed to her injuries in a Srinagar hospital on Tuesday. The dead include two women and among the seven injured is an 8 year old boy
