Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today held a review meeting to take stock of arrangements for ensuing auspicious occasion of Meraj-ul-Aalam.
During the meeting, arrangements for Urs of Sheikh Dawood (RA) also known as Batamaloo Sahab, which falls two days prior to the Meraj-ul-Aalam were also reviewed.
The review meeting held threadbare discussion for smooth conduct of the festivals to ensure that devotees dont face problems during festive days.
The main function in connection with the Meraj-ul-Aalam will be held at Hazratbal Srinagar Shrine which attracts huge rush of devotees.
Arrangements including supply of water and power, cleanliness and illumination in and around the main venue, besides medical facilities, adequate transport availability, parking, repair of roads leading to the Hazratbal, availability of fire tenders, establishing emergency control rooms were finalized in the meeting.
The DC stressed upon the concerned officers to work in coordination and appointed SDM Srinagar as nodal officer to oversee the arrangements for the festival. He also called for putting in arrangements at Jenab Sahab Soura and Asare-Shareef Kalashpora, which also witnesses rush of devotees on the eve of Meraj-ul-Aalam celebrated every year on Rajab 27.
Officers of Wakaf Board, SMC, LAWDA, PDD, R&B, Health, CA&PD, Police, Traffic and Deputy Director Information and Public Relations were present in the meeting. (PTK)
DDC reviews pace of developmental activities
SRINAGAR: District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone reviewed the pace of developmental activities in the district in a meeting held here today.
During the meeting, sector wise review of developmental activities was held and it was informed that against the total availability of Rs. 82 crore during the year current fiscal, expenditure to the tune of Rs 81.36.crore has been made registering 99% achievement.
The DDC also reviewed the process of land acquisition at Baba pora Habba Kadal. He asked the concerned to remove all the bottlenecks in this regard. He also reviewed the pace of ongoing work on different community centers being constructed at various areas of Srinagar and impressed upon the concerned executing agencies for ensuring timebound completion of these projects. During the meeting, the DDC also took stock of the works being carried out for the development of Radpora Sports Stadium in Shahr-i-Khaas.
The meeting also reviewed the pace of the Land Acquisition for Gundbal Foot Bridge besides reviewed the pace of progress of MMC Zakura, CHC Batamaloo and PHC Noorbagh Srinagar.
Pace of achievement made under Education Sector including RMSA, SSA and MDM schemes and laying of Astro Turf in different schools of Srinagar was also reviewed.
