Srinagar: As Peoples Democratic Party, is keeping its coalition partner Bhartiya Janta Party on tenterhooks and is in no hurry to form the government, the BJP on Wednesday asked PDP to take immediate call on the government formation.
I think Mehbooba Ji should take immediate call on the government formation. This uncertainty should end now. We want the development of the Jammu and Kashmir, BJP National vice President and its Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna said.
Khana also suggested PDP leadership to decide immediately who will be their leader. The party should choose who will be their leader. We cannot let the people to be in confusion. We believe that PDP will take some concrete decision in this regard, he said.
Khana also rejected as mere speculation the reports that both parties have put up fresh conditions and asserted that no political discussion had started between them as Mehbooba was in deep mourning following her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death last week.
Dismissing the Tariq Hameed Qaras statement in which he has suggested the party president Mehbooba Mufti to form the next government with Congress and other secular forces, Khana said that somebodys personal views cannot be taken serious. We should not give hype to anybodys personal views. I think Party is supreme and we believe that Mehbooba Mufti will continue the process which was started by her father Mufti Sahab,
It is to mention here that Jammu and Kashmir has been placed under Governor’s Rule since the death of Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed.
Since the Mufti Mohmmad Sayeeds death, reports of the growing unease in the PDP-BJP alliance are coming amid the speculations of a political realignment in the state.
It was triggered by Mehbooba Mufti’s disinclination to take oath even though the state mourning for her father Mehbooba Mufti ends on Wednesday.
It is also pertinent to mention here that numbers played an important part in bringing together the BJP and the PDP. The PDP won the most seats at 28, but was 16 short of a simple majority in the 87-member assembly. The BJP, with 25 seats, helped make up the gap.
The Congress has 12 seats in J&K and National Conference has 15. There are four Independent MLAs and two from other parties.
