SydneyRain played spoilsport after Carlos Brathwaite scored an aggressive 69 to take West Indies to 248 for seven at stumps on day two in the third Test against Australia in Sydney.
Rain delayed the start of play by 15 minutes on day two. Three balls into the first session, the rain made a return to delay the play further.
The play resumed after more than an hours interruption. Three overs later the umpires took the players off the field again with the return of a steady drizzle.
The umpires called for an early lunch and the play resumed after the break. An over after Australia took the second new ball, Carlos Brathwaite (69) completed his second Test fifty in 50 balls.
In the 86th over of the innings, James Pattinson (2-67) produced a fiery away swinging full delivery that castled Brathwaite.
West Indies were 246 for seven at that stage. Two balls later the skies opened up once more and the rain got progressively heavier leading to stumps on day two.
Only 68 deliveries of play were possible on day two. The game will begin 30 minutes early in the remaining three days.
